While the House of the Representatives is continuing its probe on the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) drug trade, Sen. Leila De Lima attended an event of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) on Monday, October 10.
De Lima joined the mass conducted by CBCP in commemoration of the World Day Against Death Penalty. De Lima was with some officials of the Commission on Human Rights.
According to Dennis Cabral Datu, the senator was emotional and crying during a certain part of the mass.
While the mass is ongoing, high-profile inmate and drug lord Jaybee Sebastian denied that he is an asset of the government, contrary to De Lima's claim that Sebastian is being pressured and used by the administration to pin her down.
Meanwhile, De Lima now faces drug trafficking charges filed by anti-crime advocates.
