President Rodrigo Duterte, after arriving from his first International trip being the chief executive, made known the significance of giving the Filipinos opportunities here in the country rather than them working abroad. 

Duterte said as it was recently quoted by Inquirer, “Our objective is to make working abroad an option and not a need.”

President Duterte participated on the 28th and 29th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Vientiane, Laos. There, Duterte met with the member of the organization and also to the leaders of different nation.

Duterte also went to Indonesia for a working visit and President Joko Widodo welcomes him.

The Philippines and Indonesia then disclosed a joint statement saying that there will be a promising cooperation in fighting against terrorism and drug trafficking. Also in safeguarding the maritime security.

President Duterte’s trip also marked as PH President accepts the chairmanship of the ASEAN in 2017. In coincidence, the 50th Anniversary of the regional association. Duterte also met the Filipinos in Indonesia and Laos. 

In Davao City, he said in his arrival speech that the delegations of the Philippines worked hard in promoting the interest of the nation. He also mentioned his meeting with the Indonesian President. He then encouraged the Filipinos to work hand in hand in his administration so that goals will achieved especially in terms of providing the growth of the economy.
